Meet Ruben

Ruben Ruiz is a Bay Area native who was raised by parents that immigrated to the United States in pursuit of the American Dream – teaching their children that through hard work and determination, they can achieve their goals and their dreams.

After graduating high school, Ruben spent the next 10 years working at Stanford University School of Medicine’s Department of Pediatric Surgery as an office administrator while the love of his life and future wife, Ruby, obtained her nursing degree from the University of San Francisco and started her own career helping others. She currently works for Kaiser Permanente’s neonatal intensive care unit in Santa Rosa.

Today, Ruben and Ruby have three young children between the ages of 4 and 8, and enjoy spending time with their family, playing or watching sports, and enjoying summer evening barbecues.

In His Own Words: How He’d Be Affected

“I have remained in compliance with all the regulations on my cannabis facility since inception. In fact, during one county inspection at my facility, I was told that our farms are exemplary, and should be a model for other cultivators to strive towards. While this gives me great joy, at the same time, my operations are in jeopardy if the county were to establish a CP zone in Redwood Valley, which would put me out of business. I have expended everything I have into obtaining permits and complying with all the regulations, and even after doing everything the right way, if this zoning modification passes, my farm will not be grandfathered in and I would be unable to move my permits and licenses to another location.”

Meet Anarbol

Anarbol Lopez Galvez is a Redwood Valley resident who has lived in Mendocino County for his entire life. Anarbol’s parents immigrated to Ukiah 40 years ago before starting a family, becoming U.S. Citizens, and proudly establishing roots in our community.

As the oldest among his four siblings, Anarbol attended Nokomis Elementary School, Pomolita Middle School and Ukiah High School before attending classes at Mendocino College. At a young age, Anarbol started working as a field worker along with his parents. As a young adult, he also worked as a Union Worker and in construction, a reflection of a strong work ethic focused on giving back, caring for his fellow neighbors, and making a difference in his community.

Today, Anarbol is proud to be a small business owner who owns a few local businesses in town.  He is married to another Ukiah native, Perla Torres. Together, they have 4 children who are involved in many local sports and activities in our community.

In His Own Words: How He’d Be Affected

“I consider myself a family man, a businessman and a contributing member of this community. I am doing my very best to not only comply with the laws and regulations, but to be a good and attentive neighbor as well. I have applied for a cultivation permit so that I will one day be able to cultivate lawfully on my land. However, if the CP Zone is passed, I will lose all the money I have spent to comply with the regulations; this CP zone will put me out of business.”
